What the fuck is “soft grunge”? The whole spirit of grunge is pretty anti-soft. Even Courtney Love, who wore a lot of pastel and babydoll dresses, looked like she’d been torn to pieces. There was nothing “soft” or “cute” or “put together” about her look. Her look was satirical and mocking. It poked fun at the notion that girls should be “pretty”. The 90s was the decade of anti-fashion. There’s your grunge.
